 JOB SUMMARY:

The System Administrator III (Senior) reports to the Application Delivery Manager and is responsible for maintaining critical systems to ensure reliability and optimization to the business and its customers.  Responsibilities include systems design, migration of applications, troubleshooting complex issues, application installation and configuration, and solution research.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Major activities involved in the work performed.

·         Researches, recommends, and implements changes to applications and systems

·         Ensures stability and performance of applications

·         Ensure the management of implementations of new software releases and upgrades

·         Performs pro-active capacity planning, including short-term and long-term trend analysis

·         Must be self-motivated, independent and resourceful

·         Must have the capacity to be decisive and flexible

·         Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills

·         Possess superior communications skills verbally and written

·         Collaborate with Product/Project Managers in analyzing operational procedures, identifying issues and recommending solutions

·         Must gain complete understanding of each application, its usage, technical structure and functionally experience with complex system environments, including multiple locations and companies integrated environment

Required Skills 

JOB-RELATED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: 

·         UNIX (Solaris) and/or  Red Hat Linux

·         SQL scripting

·         Solid knowledge of Database administration - exposure to Oracle is a plus

·         Shell scripting and demonstrable experience automating complex tasks

·         JEE Application server design, administration and configuration – WebLogic, GlassFish, etc

·         Web server administration and configuration

·         LDAP

·         Hands on experience with Virtualization technologies – XEN, VMware, Solaris Containers, etc

·         Application access control (i.e. SiteMinder)

·         SOA/Web Service/EAI knowledge – knowledge of Java CAPS is a plus

·         Understanding of networking, servers, and storage

·         Performance analysis and tuning

·         Experience with healthcare, workers compensation, or outcome assurance

·         Understanding of strategic business systems:

Bachelor Degree in Computer or Healthcare field or equivalent experience
Applicable Technical Certification and/or training

Contract-to-hire Senior QA Engineer Opportunity With Great Company in Dallas, TX

Originally an internal group within an integrated architecture and construction firm, our client’s company is a uniquely positioned software company creating technologies to improve the early decision making process in preconstruction.

Our client specializes in easy to create 3D models that interact with a SQL database backend and perform a number of engineering calculations. Their software covers a broad spectrum of technologies where a high level of quality is imperative. 

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for creating and maintaining product test plans and testing strategies.  This position is also responsible for testing our products using an existing suite of 2500+ automated and manual tests, and ensuring tests are up to date with product changes.

Work is conducted primarily during daytime hours (8-5 CST). 

Skills/Qualifications:

·   Become proficient in product usage enough to be able to pass base and intermediate training class tests within 2 months.

·   Within 2 months be able to run and update automated tests in our existing suite of automated tests using HP’s Functional Test / Quick Test Professional (QTP)

·   Manage 1 – 2 software engineering interns and effectively utilize them to test products

·   Have a formal testing process documented within 4 months

·   Must be very proficient in using automated functional testing software.

·   Knowledge in VBScript and HP’s Functional Test (formerly QTP) a plus

Education/Experience:

Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role required. High School Diploma or GED required. Software Quality Engineer Certification (CSQE) or Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE) is required.

Skills:

·         Experience developing and leading software testing teams as part of key company projects

·         Experience managing projects using test automation tools.

·         Experience with HP’s QuickTest Pro (QTP) or equivalent

·         Experience with performance testing tools, such as HP’s Loadrunner

·         Thorough understanding of the Software Quality Assurance Life Cycle with strong QA process skills

Ensures a timely progression of project completion by coordinating testing activities, including test data and results, with Quality Assurance.

Develops programs that run efficiently and adhere to client standards by minimizing excess overhead in applications and re-using code and coding techniques.

Ensures long term maintainability of the system by documenting project according to client guidelines.

Provides resolutions to problems by taking the initiative to use all resources available for research.

Provides programmer support on a 24-hour basis by participating in the Programmer of the Week (POW) rotation.
